About

Oak Ridge Campground is a 100-site campground with bathrooms, grills and picnic tables, and drive-up campsites. Leashed pets are welcome. Both tents and RVs are welcome in A Loop and B Loop, though there are no hook-ups for RVs and maximum RV length is 32'. C Loop can be reserved for tents only. Reservations are required for all campsites. Make a reservation on recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777. The campground is closed for the winter on December 1 and re-opens on March 1.

Hours

This campground is designed for families and individuals. Large groups should reserve space at Turkey Run Group Campground. Check in/check out time is 12:00 PM. All loops are reservation only, with same day reservations possible unless its full. Reservations can be made on recreation.gov or by calling 877-444-6777.

Reservations can be made by visiting recreation.gov or calling 877-444-6777. There are no walk-in sites available, however same-day reservations are possible when the campground isn't full.

Directions

From the park entrance road, take a left on the Scenic Drive and follow it approximately 6 miles to the signed turn off for Oak Ridge Campground. It will take around 15 minutes to get there from the park entrance. Stop by the visitor center for further information.

Weather

Prince William Forest Park experiences all four seasons.Spring and fall are generally comfortable with precipitation possible. Summers are hot and humid with average temperatures in the high 80s. Sudden thunderstorms possible. July and August are the hottest months. Winters can be cold with average temperatures in the winter of 41 degrees with variable precipitation. The main park roads may close due to snowy conditions. Cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing are permitted.

Sites A23, A25, C32 and C33 are handicapped-accessible sites with wheelchair accessible picnic tables and fire grills. Please reserve these sites for visitors with disabilities unless there are no other sites available.

fire Stove Policy

Fires must be contained in park provided or personal grills. No fires can be left unattended. Extinguish all fires before retiring for the night or leaving the area. Leave extinguished ashes in the grills. If not camping, wood within the park will not be cut, collected or removed for any reason, unless under an approved Special Use Permit. If camping, dead and downed wood less than six inches in diameter may be collected within the campground for use and consumption during a stay with a valid camping permit. Use of power tools such as chainsaws is prohibited.

Trailers and fifth wheels are limited to up to 26 feet in length and 12 feet in height and motor homes up to 32 feet in length and 12 feet in height. Check out time is 12:00 p.m. Hook-ups are not available. Full hook-ups are available at the concession-run Prince William Forest RV Campground, located three miles North on Route 234 off exit 152. For information on the Travel Trailer Village, please call 703-221-2474 or 888-737-5730.

Each site has a picnic table, parking slip, grill and lantern post. Each loop has restrooms featuring sinks and flush toilets and the "B" loop restroom has showers. Restrooms are handicapped-accessible.

This campground is fairly level, but some small slopes do exist. Walking paths are unpaved. Sites A23, A25, C32 and C33 are handicapped-accessible sites with wheelchair accessible picnic tables and fire grills. Please reserve these sites for visitors with disabilities unless there are no other sites available. The restrooms themselves are accessible, however, paths to the restrooms are unpaved and mulched.
