The National Park Service will conduct a prescribed fire at Chickamauga Battlefield on March 5 and 6. The planned fire will be on approximately 850 acres north of Viniard-Alexander Road east of LaFayette Road and west of Alexander Bridge Road. 

WASHINGTON – The National Park Service today announced that private investment in historic rehabilitation projects generated more than $12.8 billion in economic output in fiscal year 2024, supporting approximately 116,000 jobs and contributing $6.6 billion in gross domestic product to the U.S. economy.

The Green River Ferry in Mammoth Cave National Park will reopen March 5 and resume daily operations from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST.

A section of the Blue Ridge Parkway from milepost 86 to 89, near Bedford, Virginia, will close on or around March 9, for a needed rehabilitation project.  The project includes pavement reconstruction, drainage repairs, signage and safety measures, and work is expected to be complete by summer 2026. 

Capitol Reef National Park is seeking input on opportunities to expand recreational access and connectivity and to modernize facilities and infrastructure within the park.

The National Park Service seeks public input on a proposed project to replace the water and wastewater systems within Curecanti National Recreation Area.

National Park Service personnel responded to an incident on Feb. 26 in a closed area on the east side of Kīlauea caldera within Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The volcano was not erupting at the time of the incident.

Cape Hatteras National Seashore and its official non-profit partner, Outer Banks Forever, today announced an upcoming partnership project, funded by Outer Banks Forever, that will restore the interior of the Bodie Island Double Keepers’ Quarters.

The National Park Service will hold the winter Subsistence Resource Commission (SRC) Meetings for Kobuk Valley National Park and Cape Krusenstern National Monument during the week of March 10, 2026.
