03/03/2026 The road is open to Longmire. All vehicles, including 4WD and AWD, must carry tire chains and be ready to use them. The gate at Longmire to Paradise is closed for the night to support public safety. Check in the morning for updated status of the gate at Longmire, Wednesday 03/04/2026.

A planned power outage will occur starting 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday March 10th, likely lasting until 4:00 p.m. in Furnace Creek and Stovepipe Wells. Some amenities may be unavailable such as internet and gas. Please plan accordingly.

The unpaved Elephant Hill Access Road and Cave Spring Road, and associated parking lots, will close temporarily for necessary road maintenance on March 26, 2026. The roads and parking lots will be closed to all uses until the work is complete, which should be later that same day.

Beginning February 25th, 2026, Bandelier National Monument's Tsankawi Unit will temporarily be closed for a Trails and Visitor Improvement Project. A helicopter will be onsite to move materials from the parking lot to the top of the mesa. During these operations, Tsankawi will be unsafe for visitors. The main Frijoles Canyon section of Bandelier including the Visitor Center, Main Pueblo Loop Trail, Park Store, and Cafe will remain open.
