This 150-site campground is located approximately 3 miles from the park visitor center off of Highway 58 in Virginia. 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical hookups are available at 43 of the sites. Hot showers and potable water are located in the comfort stations. Camping rigs up to 50 feet can be accommodated at some sites. Sites are accessed through paved loop roads. Most of the sites require backing in with the exception of one pull through site.

The Wilderness Road Campground is open year-round with loops A, E, F, G, and O closing seasonal.
All campsites must be reserved and paid for through Recreation.gov or call 1-877-444-6777. You can also download the Recreation.gov mobile app and use your smart device to book and pay for your site.

Summers at Cumberland Gap are hot and humid, with temperatures commonly in the mid to upper 90s. Winters are generally mild with rain and some periods of snow January through March. Temperatures usually range in the 30s and 40s. Weather can sometimes be unpredictable, especially at higher elevations. If hiking in the backcountry, please remember that temperatures at higher elevations are five to ten degrees cooler. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear appropriate to the season.
Fires: Keep fires small. Build fires only in established fire rings. Use only dead wood which is down. Completely extinguish fires
