
Individual Family Cabins in A Unit

Individual cabin rentals and a small group site are available in Cabin Camp 3. This forested camp was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. It is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Cabin Camp 3, A and B Units can be reserved by families or small groups. In A Unit, there are 3 cabins that accommodate up to 4 people and 7 cabins that accommodate up to 6 people. In B Unit, there are 3 cabins that can accommodate up to 10 people.

Cabin Camp 3 is open seasonally from May through October by reservation only. Check-in time is 3:00 pm. Visitors can head directly to their cabin when checking in and a park staff member or volunteer will be periodically available to assist with the check-in. The group is not allowed to occupy the camp prior to the official check-in. The check-out time is 12:00 pm. The cabin must be clean prior to the time of check-out. A park staff member or volunteer will inspect the facilities for cleanliness.
Reservations can be made by visiting recreation.gov or calling 877-444-6777 from April to early November. There are no walk-in sites available, however same-day reservations are possible if there are cabins available.

Go west on Joplin Road for 1/2 mile. Turn right on Park Entrance Road. From West: From the community of Independent Hill, use Joplin Road Highway 619 to Park Entrance Road, approximately 9 miles. Turn left on Park Entrance Road. Take Park Entrance Road for 3/4 mile. Turn left onto Scenic Drive. Cabin Camp 3 will be on the right after 1 mile
Prince William Forest Park experiences all four seasons. Spring and fall are generally comfortable with precipitation possible. Summers can be hot and humid with average temperatures in the high 80s and with sudden thunderstorms possible. July and August are the hottest months. Winters can be cold with average temperatures in the winter of 41 degrees with variable precipitation. The main park roads can close due to snowy conditions, though cross-country skiing and snowshoeing are permitted.
There are no ramp into the cabins and most cabins have steps or short staircases into them.
Cell phone coverage may be spotty.
Firewood purchased or brought from outside of the park must be USDA certified pest-free firewood. Campers may use downed and dead wood of less than 6 inches in diameter and no longer than the length and width of the provided camping grill. Electrical appliances (Stoves, AC Units, heaters, etc.) are prohibited. Portable gas stoves are allowed.

There are no RV hook-ups in the Cabin Camps. RVs and trailers are not allowed.

Parking lots are generally small. Parking can be limited at times, especially during heavy rain events. Park management encourages you to carpool.

Most routes in the cabin camps contain slopes and are not paved. While the restrooms themselves are accessible, the routes to the restrooms are awkward to navigate with gravel and dirt.
