Seawall Campground is located on the west side of Mount Desert Island about 4 miles (6 km) south of Southwest Harbor. The campground is approximately 18 miles from Bar Harbor. All sites at Seawall are within a short walking distance of the coastline.

Hours

Seawall Campground is open seasonally, typically from the Wednesday before Memorial Day to Columbus Day. The ranger station is generally open from 9 am to 8 pm during peak season, but hours are subject to change depending on staffing levels.

Reservations

Ninety percent of campsites are released six months in advance on the first of each month at 10 am EST. The remaining 10 percent are released at 10 am 14 days ahead of a desired arrival date on a rolling basis. All campsite reservations must be made in advance at Recreation.gov. Reservations cannot be made through the campground office or in-person.

From Boston, take I-95 north to Augusta, Maine, then Route 3 east to Ellsworth and on to Mount Desert Island. For an alternate route, continue on I-95 north to Bangor, Maine, then take Route 1A east to Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, take Route 3 to Mount Desert Island. At first traffic light on Mount Desert Island, bear right onto Route 102. Stay on 102 for approximately 11.5 miles. You will pass through Somesville and the town of Southwest Harbor. Do not bring firewood from more than 50 miles away. Help protect our forests from the spread of hidden, tree-killing insects by obtaining firewood from local vendors near the campground. Grills and fire rings are available for use at campsites. Campfires are only allowed in designated fire rings.

Maximum vehicle length is due to the tight turning radius of the A-Loop road and the difficulty of staying on the pavement when entering and exiting the back-in campsites. If you bring equipment exceeding the maximum limit, you may be turned away upon arrival. Please help us protect the vegetation around the campsites by respecting the maximum limits.

This campground has the following accessible sites: 3 RV, 35-foot (10.7 m) maximum; 5 drive-in; 5 walk-in; and one group site. Use the paved road for access to the amphitheater. If staying in the group camping area, use the accessible restroom in the C loop, which is reached by a long, hard-packed ramp.
