Kamloops Island is a small, shady campground at the mouth of the Kettle River. The main hub of campsites is tucked into the vegetation at the top and can fit tents and RVs. A cluster of walk-in tent sites is spread out in a grove of pines. Many campsites offer views of the river, lake, and surrounding landscape. There is a courtesy dock, but no boat launch.

Kamloops Island Campground is open seasonally. Water is not available in winter or times of low lake level.

Make a Reservation →From Kettle Falls, drive north on US 395. Cross Lake Roosevelt on Barneys Bridge and continue on Hwy 395. After approximately 3 miles, turn right onto Northport Flat Creek Road/ River Bridge Road (there is a sign for Kamloops Island Campground) and drive the bridge over Kettle River. Turn left at the second Kamloops Island Campground sign.
Summer weather is hot and buggy, with highs averaging in the 90s and lows in the 50s. Rain and thunderstorms can happen any time of year. In the winter, expect cold temperatures and possible snow. Temperatures can vary in spring and fall. Be prepared for many types of weather in all seasons.
The pit toilets are wheelchair accessible. All campground roads are paved, but footpaths between campsites are generally not wheelchair accessible. Access to the courtesy dock is at the bottom of a steep hill and not wheelchair accessible.

Fires are permitted only in the designated fire rings, and only as long as there are no burn bans or dangerous fire weather.

RVs and trailers may camp at Kamloops Island. Maximum vehicle length varies from site to site. Vehicles, trailers, or RVs cannot be parked on the grass or anywhere except the designated parking spot for each site. Kamloops Island Campground does not have hookups.

Campground roads and campsite parking spaces are paved. Campsite areas are unpaved and may be uneven. Campsite 1 is a designated ADA site with a 28-foot maximum vehicle length. Campsites 9 through 17 are walk-in and located on a steep hillside. Pit toilets have sidewalk pathways from the road.
