About

The North Rim Campground is remote and has 13 sites dispersed among pinyon and juniper trees. Sites are first-come first-served; all payment is via Scan & Pay on the Recreation.gov app. The last 5.6 miles of the road to the campground are unpaved. Services are very limited. To protect sensitive vegetation, please use designated tent pads and do not tie, hang, or attach anything to trees. Maximum combined length of RV, car and/or trailer is 22 feet. Generators are prohibited. Elevation: 7767 ft (2367 m).

Hours

Reservations

Reservations are not accepted for the North Rim Campground. All sites are first-come first-served. Payment MUST be submitted online using the Scan & Pay feature on the Recreation.gov mobile app. There is no cell service or connectivity on site. Download the Recreation.gov app before entering the park to arrive prepared.

Directions

The North Rim is 15 miles southwest of Crawford. From CO Highway 92, turn west on Black Canyon Road approximately 3 miles south of Crawford. Follow the road signs to the park. The last 5.6 miles are unpaved. Once you reach the rim, turn right toward the ranger station and campground. The campground is past the ranger station. In winter, the North Rim is closed to vehicles at the park boundary, reopening typically by early May.

Weather

This Campground is on the rim of Black Canyon, at 8,000 feet in elevation. Weather can rapidly change from warm and sunny to cold and rainy or snowy. Be prepared for 3-season camping, even in summer.

There are no ADA accessible campsites. The campground road is gravel and all sites are unpaved and unimproved. Access to the pit toilets is on a compacted dirt path.
