Traveling northeast or southwest on MN Hwy 61 visitors will see signs alerting the approach to Grand Portage National Monument. A right turn exit lane or left turn from Hwy 61 at the Grand Portage Trading Post will take visitors onto Casino Road. Turn left at the first stop sign from Casino Road to Mile Creek Road. About 3/4 mile on Mile Creek Road, look for the large wooden entrance sign. Turn left up the short hill into the Heritage Center parking lot.

Grand Portage National Monument Announces Summer Hours Beginning May 23, 2026
Grand Portage National Monument will implement Summer hours beginning on Saturday, May 23, 2026. The Heritage Center will be open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and the Historic Depot will be open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The historic depot will be open seven days a week through Monday, October 12.

Grand Portage National Monument Receives National Award for Partnership & Interpretation
Grand Portage National Monument received the Charles S. Marshall Unit Award in March 2026 from Eastern National, a not-for-profit cooperating association that promotes the public’s support of America’s national parks and other public trust partners. The award recognizes Grand Portage National Monument’s excellence in partnership, education, and interpretation across the National Park Service.
